
Oil filtration and treatment of an underground skid-mounted transformer, delivered within a strict 12-hour outage window at a live mining site.
The project came with several constraints working against a straightforward filtration job. The transformer sat deep underground with limited access and egress, restricting both the equipment we could bring on site and the weight our vehicle could carry. As the unit fed an underground workshop, we were given a maximum 12-hour outage window to complete the entire scope, from mobilisation to demobilisation, within a live mining operation.
We sent a two-person team with purpose-built, compact filtration equipment suited to the access constraints, completing the work across three days. Day one covered site inspection, familiarisation and mobilising equipment underground. Day two involved isolations, lock-on, permit to work and the filtration works itself, completed using a compact 2000LPH oil filtration plant. Day three was dedicated to demobilising the equipment from underground, all coordinated closely with the client to minimise disruption to mining operations.
All work was completed within the given timeframe, with the transformer oil processed and treated to an acceptable condition. The client reported minimal interference with ongoing mining operations throughout the project. The result reflected our ability to plan precisely around site constraints, including limited access, restricted equipment capacity and a tight outage window, while still delivering a verified outcome on schedule.
